7am and SNOWING!!!

Whew!! 5 miles with the team in the wet morning snow!!

Today was an early run at Stony Brook Univ for a 5 mile jaunt across campus with the team. It was a smaller group than usual but still fun. I had some breathing issues around miles 4-5 and had to walk a bit, but I still did OK and although I was the second to last one in (did I mention it was a small group....) I still made good time and kept my endurance up. Each week seems to be getting a litte harder, but I've been keeping up. I really have to amp up on my weekday training and really give it my all.

I'm off to Okemo for a week of skiing and I couldn't be happier!! I could use some time off from work and real life!! I've been looking into places to run and I think I have nailed down a good indoor gym. I'm hoping to get some street running in, but VT has had a ton of snow so I doubt I'll be able to.

My life has been a little consumed with running, and I'm not sure if that's a bad thing or not...

Exciting News!

My friend Casey who I am running in honor of has just found out that the mass in his chest is considerbaly smaller! Woo-hoo!! If he can get through all of this, then I know I can battle through the running and fundraising!!!

I have a team run in the morning with an injury prevention clinic to follow. Let's hope the weather holds out!

To all of my blog fans out there (all two of you!!) sorry for the short posts, It's been a pretty hectic week.

Long Run #2 (not really too long)

I had my second team run on Saturday...3 miles, nice and easy. I'm pretty sick so I haven't been able to run yet this week.

My first wave of fundraising letters are out...whew!!

Selfless running

I am usually so obsessed with my hear rate, distance and time when running that I hardly ever stop to think about anyone else...after Saturday's group run, that has all changed. I could have cared less about my performace during the run, I was busy cheering on my trammates that were ahead of me and those that were behind me. It was so awesome to route for everyone, and part of what makes TNT so great.

All I want for Christmas is a Garmin Forerunner (and new skiis, and a cure for cancer!)

I am loving the Garmin Forerunner GPS devices. I am in the process of price checking and getting feedback on some models, but I think I am going to buy the 301 series. I love knowing EXACTLY how far I have run, my time, heart rate....all of that is like candy to me! For a while I was using the Nike itunes thing, but it wasn't very accurate and I don't always like to run with music.

Tomorrow is team run #2 for 3 miles at Bethpage Sate Park. Looking forward to running with the team. I just wish it was a little later - note to TNT 7am is EARLY!!

I have also completed my miles for the week, head cold and all!

Now I have to really concentrate on fundraising...

I can do this!

So I had my first team run on Saturday and I have to say, it went really well. It was freezing but thank god for layers! We ran for about 30 minutes and then attended a clinic at Runners Edge. The whole experiene was awesome! I met a bunch of great people and just felt really good about everything. I have participated in other TNT events, but I know that for me, this season will be the best!

This week I have to run a total of 11 miles (I think), which should be pretty easy for me. It's the long runs that I am a little anxious about.
